A school project will bring Natalie closer than she ever dreamed to the past of her favorite person in the world, her grandfather. From her earliest memories, her grandfather has been the one to understand her. Her grandparent's early life, however, has always been shrouded in mystery, even to their daughter Mallorie, Natalie's mother. But that is all about to change.
Her grandfather, Josef, has agreed to tell her what she has been waiting years to know. Despite her grandmother's warnings that she'll never be the same once finding out, Natalie delves into Josef's memories with him, hearing unbelievable tales of extreme loyalty, love, and murder, bringing to life the men of the Reich.
The destiny that has lain dormant in her heart will awaken during her whirlwind romance with Martin, an acquaintance of her grandfather's from Germany. As Natalie falls under his spell, her loved ones will sit by, helpless, as they watch Martin offer her a life they can't comprehend.
Natalie will soon find out through heartache and loss that her grandmother's words were true and that for some, the doors of the past should remain closed.
I believe it was in third grade that I fell in love with writing. A creative writing assignment on any subject, to which I chose a butterfly and its journey over my hometown, would give me the spark that's never left me.
After a vivid series of dreams unlike anything I'd ever thought about, my husband suggested I finally start the novel that later became my first novel, Blood Reich, fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming a writer. Publishers told me that my novels were too disturbing. Perhaps. But that is my favorite type of writing.
As a child, Martin loved hearing his father's stories of his grandfather during the Reich. The heroic tales and experiences would ignite a passion in his young mind, blossoming into a childhood dream shared with his best friend, Karl. Over the years, the two would methodically strategize and prepare, knowing that they would have to put their plan into action one day. Though the idea feels too extraordinary to deliver, it is always in the back of their mind.
It will take a terrifying family scare for Martin and Karl to agree that the time has come. If they are to have any hope in saving their people from the scourge of Marxism taking over the western world, they will have to rely on the support of their family and their loyalty to one another. Digging from their well of power and fortitude, they begin to carry out the unthinkable.
Will the dreams of the Reich be silenced for good? The men will call on their ancestors of the past, channeling their inner strength and resilience in the face of uncertainty and death, all in hopes of attaining a dream destined to rise from the ashes.
